Agentforce Prospecting Agent

In this workshop, you set up Agentforce Prospecting Agent in your own Salesforce sandbox. You connect the agent to a report of your target accounts, teach it your ideal customer profile (ICP), and have it find the right people to contact inside those accounts. Your reps then review each recommendation and approve or reject it.

Prospecting Agent is a headless agent: it runs in the background on a schedule, or when you run it manually. Your reps never chat with it. Here's what it does each time it runs:

  1. Reads your account report: the list of accounts your team wants to work.
  2. Researches each account against your Required and Nice-to-have criteria, using CRM data, ZoomInfo (if connected), and the web. Then it qualifies or disqualifies the account.
  3. Finds prospects in each qualified account that match your contact criteria. If a matching Contact already exists, it recommends that Contact. If none does, it searches ZoomInfo and creates a new Lead or Contact when it finds a match.
  4. Assigns prospects to your reps based on the routing and volume rules you set.
  5. Your reps approve or reject each recommendation in the Prospects tab. Approved prospects can then flow into your outreach tools.

By the end of today, you'll have:

  • A working Prospecting Agent in your sandbox, reading from a real account report.
  • Account and prospect criteria that reflect your ICP, tested with Preview.
  • A first set of recommended prospects in the Prospects tab.
  • A clear list of what to do next to take the agent to production.

Plan on one hands-on builder (a Salesforce admin, Sales Ops, or RevOps person with admin rights in your sandbox) completing Exercise 0 in roughly 1–2 hours before the workshop, and 60–75 minutes with the group on workshop day. Bring a sales leader or SDR manager's input on your ICP. Raise your hand any time — Salesforce experts are at every table.

TIP: Prospecting Agent has a frequent release schedule. If a button or label looks different from a screenshot in this guide, the step still applies — ask an expert if you're unsure. Throughout this guide, TIP call-outs flag extra context, things to double check, or common mistakes. Don't skip them.

Complete Exercise 0 in your own sandbox by Thursday, October 22, before workshop day. That leaves a week to fix anything that comes up. If a required item isn't ready on workshop day, you won't be able to finish the build. Exercises 1–4 are completed live at the workshop, in order, with experts on hand.
